Maybe I am wrong about this, but years ago, late 80's early 90's, didn't they brag how the number of partakers went down every year? again I could of imagined it since during meetings my mind often wondered.

Yes I feel I am a better person for sure. After surviving the years of abuse and being told what a terrible person you really are, I can stand up for myself now. My children haven't talked to me for years and I think about them everyday, but it is easy to see why they feel the way they do. Brainwashed by the BORG. 5,10,20, 30 years from now perhaps they will say "what did I do to Dad?" Maybe they will contact me and do you think I'll tell them go to hell? Of course not. I will welcome them with open arms, I have never stopped loving them and never will. Being forced to go door to door knowing what a bunch of idiots we looked like walking down the street. After enduring that nothing scares me anymore. Being forced to go door to door in the slums of Boston with the biggest dork you have ever met because this is Pioneer School. Nothing scares me at all. Having to endure the most boring conventions for year after year sitting in suits with no AC. Having to listen to a brother talk about anal, oral sex, masturbation from the stage with children of all ages in the audience nothing embarrasses me anymore. Having to pretend to be friends with people who must of eaten lead paint as kids made you tolerant. It wasn't over night once you leave, but after a few years you learn who you really are, and find out you really are a good person. Being told gays are evil scum then finding out they are wonderful people just like me. Yes I do feel like I am a better person.

I would love to hear your experiences when this worked out for you. I had a great turning of the tables when I was 22. The Con. went out to a park for picnics, softball, that sort of thing. I was a Pioneer at the time, and it was very hot so I made some mixed drinks in thermos not allot but it was on ice, Tom Collins. We took a break and my friend and I went to the car for a quick beverage and some Pioneer sisters followed. They asked what we had, I told them, and they asked if they could have 1. Now mind you this wasn't a big thermos we all had 1 little drink, everyone of age I really thought nothing of it, this was 1987 remember the 80's? Anyhow by the next meeting I find myself meeting with 3 elders and they are not happy. I sat and said nothing which I rarely did, but this time it was a good thing. Each took their turn on the soapbox threatening to remove me as a Pioneer, and maybe more. After 20-30 minuets it was mine turn to respond. I told them I didn't think it was that big of a problem it was only 1 drink. The story they heard was my friend and I were alone drinking, some brother who was also a pioneer from another Con. told on us, like little kids getting trouble. Well who else was there Darth? This is where the tables turned and it was sweet.... Your wife and your wife and your wife, we all had a drink. I never ratted on anyone, but what a time to squeal. Silence over took the room. Needless to say I remained a Pioneer, as did the Elders Wives. Even their wives had a good laugh out in service the next day, since I was the only Brother Pioneer at the time and found out the Husbands never mentioned it to them.
So please I would love to hear your Turning Of The Tables on the Elders.

To explain my "Nights Entwined With Satan". I made it up on the spot just for that brother. And he did get rid of his tapes. Because I was informed by him anyone who listens to groups such as Led Zeppelin will loose all privileges and will be marked. So I fired that one back on him. And pooor old Huey Lewis was added. I hope I didn't destroy his career.... kinda liked his music....sorry Huey.

I had my peaks and valleys. Even thou I used to Pioneer for a few years, I HATED service. It got to the point that during the service meeting I would get panic attacks (at the time I had no idea what was wrong) I would start sweating uncontrollable to the point my shirt was soaked it looked like I jumped in a pool. I was so embarrassed, I asked an Elder for advice... he asked in a sarcastic voice" what do you want me to hold your hand" haha. It took a couple of years to slowly bring my hours down to 1 a month. I loved my religion, but so many brothers acted like they were prophets or 1 of the original 12. I had fun with 1 thou. My music that I listened to was always "questionable" I mean everything. I swear this is true our wedding in the hall we chose a kingdom hall song to walk down the aisle and I was told the society had problems with the 1 I picked. Back to the brother he went on and on about my music he said I should be like him and listen to Huey Lewis and the News. I said Oh no I couldn't they are really bad. I asked him if he knew what News stood for. No I don't he said. Well I heard it means Nights Entwined With Satan. He got rid of all his tapes. I didn't try to be a rebel but found myself in the SNAKEPIT (thats what we called our library where the Elders would meet you when you did wrong) very often. We'll come back to SNAKEPIT stories another time.

What makes an apostate...

i only ask because we have had several conversations with family members who want to make sure we have not become "apostates".
a rumor has been going around that we have become, sign carrying, picketing kh's attending, leaflet printing apostates.

sorry to make light of this, but I remember so many pointing to others using the APOSTATE word for the stupidest things.
I thought it was if you deliberately go against the Holy Spirit or Jehovah, or am I confusing something else, it has been awhile.

Remember all those things we experienced make us better people. Yes heartbreak, the years stolen from us. Things we allowed our families to suffer thinking it was for their own good. We blame ourselves. Yet some how we became stronger going Thru these things. to say "I know. . . . "Get over it!" No you will never get over it. You and your family are SURVIVORS. Hold your head high you lived thru it to tell your tale. Thanx 4 sharing.
